The HWCDSB will continue to administer the Catholic School Climate Survey, the Health and Peer Relations Study (HPRS), to students in Grades 4–12. In alignment with the Accepting Schools Act (2012), the ongoing use of the HPRS will help guide informed decision-making and support meaningful recommendations for our Catholic school communities.
The HPRS was developed by the University of Ottawa in partnership with School Mental Health Ontario and the Ministry of Education. It supports the HWCDSB’s commitment to Christ-centred learning environments and the well-being of both students and staff. By providing detailed, disaggregated reports to schools, the Board, and the Ministry, the survey informs evidence-based strategies to promote health, prevent violence, and strengthen positive school climates.
Secondary students will not require active consent; rather, they will require passive consent. Parents/guardians who do not wish for their child(ren) to participate will return an “opt-out” form, to the classroom teacher who will be facilitating the survey. All consent forms can be found attached.
